Roatan
Bottoms up! We enjoyed two beautiful dives in Roatan, on the West End. Our dive shop was Native Sons. Two boats with six divers each. They did a great job for us and have a nice shop with basic accommodations as well.
This Spanish hogfish has a symbiotic relationship with a young bar jack.
This large barracuda was lurking in the in the shadows. Didn't seem to mind one bit when we moved in for this close-up.
A tiger grouper was waiting to pounce on the next small fish to wander by. I guess we were just a bit large for his taste.
A pillar coral is showing us the finger of friendship. It's happy to see us anyway!
This red hind has found the best hangout of all, inside a large barrel sponge.
Suzi is cruising around in mid-water. Sometimes she thinks she's a fish. Isn't narcosis wonderful?
A scrawled filefish passes by. Strangely beautiful, at least to other filefish!
This turtle finally looked up from it's meal, a sponge, and gave us a dirty look before swimming off. We felt good about saving that poor yellow sponge. I think the sponge felt good about it too. The name of the dive, "Bikini Bottom."
Which reminds me, after all this diving we're hungry for dinner. I think it's lobster night on the Valor.
